Sometimes we can get in ho hum state in our lives and in our relationship with our spouse. Same old, same old. Routines are great for structure and smoothly running a household, but if we don't change it up once in awhile we can get caught up in the day to day to-do list and forget to shower love on ourselves and our relationship.
Massage is a great way to connect, relax your nervous system and spend time with your loved person. A couples massage allows you to honour your relationship and to take time for self-care and couple-care!
Circle of the Sun offers to-go Couples massage at your home or location of choice. Please inquire by emailing lisathurman111@gmail.com

Healthy homemade cough syrup

2/22/2019

I find the kids come down with more frequent colds in the middle of winter. It seems half the kids at school get sick at the same time. To help cut down on the germs in my home I like to diffuse essential oils, which benefits everyone within the vicinity.  My go to for supporting my immune system is  doTERRA's On Guard essential oil. I put a drop on the bottom of my feet and it quite quickly enters the blood stream, and works on a cellular level to cut down on the spread of viruses and bacteria. The high amount of clove in ON Guard essential oil blend works as a great anti-oxidant.
Many of the over the counter products for colds and flus contain chemical ingredients and only mask the symptoms. I prefer to use natural remedies that soothe the body and support the immune system naturally. A wonderful homemade cough syrup I make uses Raw honey and a few drops of essential oil.

HOMEMADE COUGH SYRUP RECIPE
2 Tablespoons Raw honey
1 drop each doTERRA On Guard, lemon, peppermint and Frankincense essential oil
Mix well in jar with a lid.
Take 1/2 tsp at a time to suck on to soothe your throat and cough.

Top 5 Tips to Relieve Neck Tension!

6/18/2018

Oh no... I can't turn my head.  Sound familiar?

A combination of  long hours spent at a computer and having our heads bent looking down at our mobile devices can be a contributing factor to chronic neck and shoulder pain. Working a physical job and over doing it at the gym can also contribute to muscles tensing up.

Some people find stress and being too rushed leads to having sore necks. Do you suspect it's time for a new pillow? If a pillow is too flat or too high it can cause neck strain by not having proper support during our sleep hours.

Here are some HELPFUL TIPS TO RELIEVE NECK PAIN

1. ALTERNATE ICE AND HEAT. Apply a soft gel ice pack for 10 minutes. Make sure it is wrapped in a cloth to protect your skin.
Wait 1 hour before applying heat. A beanbag neck pack heated in the microwave is a good option, or a hot bath.

2. BODY ALIGNMENT. Watch your posture. If you head is tilted too far forward, this will strain the neck muscles. Be mindful to sit up straight and keep your ears in line over your shoulders.

3. STRETCH. Gently bend your head forward til you feel a stretch in the back of your neck. Then tilt your head to each side. Hold the stretch for 10 to 15 seconds.

4. GENTLE EXERCISE. Lay on the floor face up with no pillow. If you need support you can roll a towel to place under your neck. Relax for a few breaths. Gently nod your head 20 to 30 times. Rest a minute then repeat.

5. MASSAGE. Acupressure massage can increase blood flow and help release trigger points. Therapeutic Ultrasound used in conjunction with massage can work wonders to soften muscles and relieve pain. You can book your massage at Circle of the Sun Healing room HERE

Feeling Joy with doTERRA Essential oils!

3/20/2018

We seldom find real, authentic joy in the world around us – there’s always something seemingly more important catching our attention. Luckily enough, there are ways through which we can detach ourselves from modern times, step back and enjoy the simpler things life. And when it comes to natural mood enhancers, nothing says ‘relaxation’ better than a bit of aromatherapy with the doTerra essential oils.

How Can doTerra Essential Oils Help You?
Citrus Bliss, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Vanilla and many other available essential oils can be used for a variety of purposes. From the obvious aromatherapy which will induce a soothing, relaxing, serene and often meditative feel to any room, to heavenly massages through AromaTouch therapies.
The Citrus Bliss from doTerra, for example, can also be used as a natural bug repellant. Diffusing it in any given room will also kill airborne pathogens, allowing you to not only breathe in a natural fragrance, but a cleaner, safer air. Distilled in water, you can spray it on your bed to get rid of those pesky dust mites, common bed bugs and even fleas!

Improving Your Mood and Immune System
Essential oils from doTerra, like Elevation, can be used for massages which directly influence mood. Gently applied to your back, shoulders, neck and chest, it can significantly reduce the stressful and often harmful effects of depression, anxiety or even fatigue. Given that it’s a 100% natural blend, it’s also safe to use on your kids when they’re going through a difficult period.
We often disregard how important our immune system is. We only take a disease seriously when it presents symptoms. By then however, our immune system has already failed to keep us protected – but it’s actually the other way around: we’ve failed our immune system. To avoid these circumstances, doTerra blends like Citrus Bliss can be used regularly to strengthen our immune system and give it the boost it needs to ultimately keep us safe.

Experience joy, be genuinely happy once again and benefit from oils that are uplifting. They’re all natural, allowing you to marvel in the beauty, complexity and effectiveness of Mother Nature’s recipes. doTerra essential oils will not only make your life easier, they do so using only natural, completely safe and easy to use remedies.

Anxiety Disorders
We all feel nervous or worried at times. This anxiety can be a helpful feeling when it motivates us or warns us of danger. An anxiety disorder, on the other hand, causes unexpected or unhelpful anxiety that seriously impacts our lives, including how we think, feel, and act.

What are anxiety disorders?
Anxiety disorders are mental illnesses. The different types of anxiety disorders include:

Phobias
A phobia is an intense fear around a specific thing like an object, animal, or situation. Most of us are scared of something, but these feelings don’t disrupt our lives. With phobias, people change the way they live in order to avoid the feared object or situation.

Panic disorder
Panic disorder involves repeated and unexpected panic attacks. A panic attack is a feeling of sudden and intense fear that lasts for a short period of time. It causes a lot of physical feelings like a racing heart, shortness of breath, or nausea. Panic attacks can be a normal reaction to a stressful situation, or a part of other anxiety disorders. With panic disorder, panic attacks seem to happen for no reason. People who experience panic disorder fear more panic attacks and may worry that something bad will happen as a result of the panic attack. Some people change their routine to avoid triggering more panic attacks.

All Natural After Sun Spray

SUMMERTIME FUN IS AWESOME!
I am so grateful to live in a lovely beach town. I don't need a cottage. I'm 1 km to the lake and there is virtually no traffic! I do try to make the most out of the summer with camping, bike rides and beach days. Thankfully I don't burn too easily, and I take the usual precautions of wearing a hat, sometimes a cover up and organic sunscreen.
It's possible to have a reaction from too much sun, even if it's a bit of tenderness from a mild sunburn. My recommendation is to limit your sun exposure your first few times out to allow your skin to adjust. Wear a shirt or cover up if you feel you have had too much sun exposure. Then once you are home apply the homemade After Sun Care  (shown in image above) to nourish and protect your skin. This can help prevent pain, itching, blisters and may help cool the skin down.

HEATRASH vs. SUNBURN
by heatrash.org
A rash of any kind indicates that something has changed on the skin. While most rashes are minor and disappear on their own; some chronic or persistent rashes indicate an underlying health issue which must be treated promptly. Now that summer is nearly here and most of us are ready for the beach, we must know a thing or two about sun rash treatment and heat rash home remedies. It is also important to know the difference between heat rash and sunburn. Most common rash treatments, no matter if it is a heat rash or a sun rash, includes cool baths, cortisone creams, lotions, powders or moisturizers. These help reduce the rash and prevent itchiness and swelling. We will cover heat rash treatment and sun burn treatment in detail in this article.

Raise your Vibration with essential oils (help for the empath)

Creating healthy boundaries is an ongoing journey, and I love using essential oils to help with my emotional well being and to protect me from negative energies. They can be used to uplift your mood, boost your immune system and help with healing.
Essential oils have been used for thousands of years as a natural medicine to heal and cleanse the body and emotions. They have been used for ceremonies, religious observances, food preparation, incense and perfume. Essential oils have been a core element in the Ayurvedic health care in India. Basil is known as a sacred plant in India and is used to open the heart and mind, allowing the flow of love and devotion. In China there are medical texts that date back to 2700 BC that refer to the use of essential oils and plant medicine for healing.

*ESSENTIAL OILS FOR ENERGETIC SHIELDING
Frankincense: This oil is a high vibrating oil and will uplift you spiritually and protect you on many levels. You can apply to the back of your neck or use a diffuser. You can also apply to a scarf or a diffuser necklace to smell throughout the day. If you feel exhausted from being around people, massage some Frankincense over your heart chakra and ask your guides to surround you with love and protect you from negativity.
Cypress: Will purify the energies around you and uplift the vibration levels so you will feel calm, protected and grounded. Helps emotionally with feelings of apathy, frustration and feeling stuck. Apply topically to spine to allow life to flow freely, unearth fears and promote emotional calm.
Juniper: Counteracts negativity. Can help balance feelings of fear and unrest. Use aromatically or apply topically across forehead, over heart and on outer rims of ears to calm agitation and fear.
Arborvitae: Can help when you feel you want control or are out of control. Also helps with overwhelm and feeling disconnected. Use aromatically or topically below the area where the ribs meet to support releasing control to a Higher Power and opening yourself to miracles.
*The statements made about the above oils are with the highest quality essential oils that are thoroughly tested and are of Therapeutic Grade.

There are many more oils that can help on so many levels. It can be overwhelming on knowing where to start. I can help you learn what you need for your body, emotions and spiritual well-being.  Please CLICK HERE to schedule a Free call.

Lemon Essential Oil makes me Happy!

doTERRA's Lemon Essential oil is their number one selling oil due to it's versatility. It can be used Internally to help cleanse the body and will support the respiratory system. When diffused it will cleanse and purify the air, and is chemical free. I like to use it on a damp cloth for cleaning and really adds shine to my wood tables. When you are finished your dishes, add a couple of drops to your sink to purify and polish the stainless steel.

Quickly relieve that sore throat!

12/29/2016

SORE THROAT RELIEF:
For a sore throat, gargle with 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider vinegar in a cup of warm water. Gargle and spit and repeat. When you have just a bit of the liquid left, swallow. It will burn a bit, but will help with the bacteria further down your throat.
If it is a really bad sore throat, a great homeopath to use is Belladonna. Take 3 - 4 pellets under your tongue, 4 x daily. Make sure you don't have food within 20 min of taking any homeopaths.
